(1) इस अध्याय की पूर्ववर्ती धाराओं में निहित किसी बात के होते हुए भी, किसी गवाह को समन जारी करने वाला न्यायालय, ऐसे समन जारी करने के अतिरिक्त और साथ ही, समन की एक प्रति पंजीकृत डाक द्वारा गवाह को उस स्थान पर भेज सकता है जहां वह आम तौर पर रहता है या व्यवसाय करता है या व्यक्तिगत रूप से लाभ के लिए काम करता है।

(2) जब गवाह द्वारा हस्ताक्षरित होने का दिखावा करने वाली एक पावती या एक डाक कर्मचारी द्वारा यह पृष्ठांकन किया गया है कि गवाह ने समन लेने से इनकार कर दिया है, तो समन जारी करने वाला न्यायालय यह घोषित कर सकता है कि समन विधिवत तामील किया गया है।
